ASUS feat. Karim Rashid – Making Waves

Highlight of Johnny Shih keynote was the unveiling of a product designed by Karim Rashid. Karim is a world-famous designer with over three thousand designs in 35 countries, such as Philadelphia’s Morimoto restaurant, Semiramis hotel in Athens, etc.

His vision for a netbook was that technology has to be more sensual, more human, and ultimately more hip. Karim?s influence is present in every detail of the new EEE ultra slim and light netbooks, from the fluid waves of the exterior design to the advanced soft-to-the-touch materials that will redefine how people perceive netbooks. The EEE PC Karim Rashid Collection netbooks come in stylish Hot Pink and Coffee Brown colors for all those who know the significance of the fashion.

Even though they are pretty cute and girly from the outside it is important to say that the inside is also good. It has the latest Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM [they could squeeze in at least 2GB] and 250GB hard disk what gives users the best performance. 10.1” display has frameless design for better view with 1024×600 resolution. Now the battery life is longer than ever, up to 6 hours with the little help from ASUS Super Hybrid Engine technology. The typing is even more comfortable with low profile keyboard and large multi-touch trackpad that is located on soft touch surface comfortable on the wrists, so no more pain for those gentle ladies hands and all those who feels that way.

The netbook comes with Windows 7 Starter edition for careless and simplified work. On board it has 802,11n and 2.1 Bluetooth for fast wireless access, and optional 3,75G and WiMAX gives future proofed connectivity. As a closing note, we have to add that the netbook is really light – only 1.12 kilo and the netbook is only one inch thick.
