Alien Invasion DLC for Worms Battlegrounds is now available on Xbox One. It can be downloaded through Xbox Games Store for £3.99 / $4.99 / 4,99 € with a classic 20% Xbox Live Gold member discount.
Additionally as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold program Xbox Live Gold members can get a free version of Worms Battlegrounds. This offer is available until 31 of December.
This classic free Team17s Worms Battlegrounds game version includes 35 single player missions, online and local multiplayer for up to four players, clan support, about 200 customization options, 65 weapons and gadgets plus a battlefield editor.
Worms Battlegrounds Alien Invasion DLC pack adds tons of new stuff and variations for the game. Bodycount mode is a standard wave defense game where players pick two worm classes to play as FIB agents who battle waves of alien invaders on 3 maps. Global leaderboards are included.
There are 10 new Deathmatch missions that allow the players to pick the side of Alien Invaders that oppose the FIB agents’ plans to wipe them out and destroy their UFO.
Customization options include 5 new Alien themed hats, 5 Alien themed gravestones and 2 Alien speechbanks. There are also 5 achievements available to unlock for those who love that sort of thing.
On the weapon side Alien Invasion brings us 5 redesigned weapons; standard sci fi hero Plasma Blaster, mysterious Energy Orb, pulpy Ray Gun, Star Wars homage Brightsaber and a funky Precision Droid. Interesting gimmick is that strike weapons are now dropped via UFOs instead of standard parachute drops.
Worms Battlegrounds Alien Invasion is an interesting addition to a proven and well loved old school franchise that along with Heroes of Might and Magic formed the soul of gaming parties back in the day.
