Xur, Agent of the Nine is back again to peddle his intergalactic wares for Week 16 from Dec. 26 – 29 in Destiny, and this time around he has some nice surprises in his arsenal.
The shadowy merchant’s inventory has rotated a bit, but since there’s a limited number of Exotics, but he does have No Land Beyond, a bolt-action sniper rifle that can be placed in a primary slot. So essentially you can have two sniper rifles.
This sounds a lot more enjoyable than it actually is, considering No Land Beyond is bolt-action, meaning it’s a single shot and then has to be reloaded. It might be make a good epic combo paired with the right set of special and heavy items, but personally I found it to be rather frustrating.

For Week 16 Xur can be found in his usual spot to the right of the class Vanguards, below the stairs in the Hall of Guardians.
For this week the Agent of the Nine can be found in his usual haunting grounds within the Hall of Guardians, to the right of each of the three class vanguards. When arriving at the Tower, simply follow the path North and go down the steps, past the Crucible handlers, and go to the right.
But the real kicker is a very specific upgrade for one of the most powerful weapons in the entire game: the Hawkmoon. That’s right, for the first time ever, Xur can upgrade the explosive Hawkmoon handcannon.
Sadly last week’s trend has continued, as two of Xur’s five purchasable Exotics are only available to owners of Destiny’sDark Below DLC. If you don’t own the content the items will be there, you just can’t buy them, and Xur won’t have any replacement items.
For shame.
In light of the recent outages across the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE, Bungie has announced that Xur will be sticking around for another day. Both PSN and Xbox LIVE were down for Christmas day as well as the day after, and it’s believed that the hacker group known as Lizard Squad is responsible.
Interestingly enough the other upgrades have been tweaked to deliver lower base and max stats, which is a bit disappointing. And Xur isn’t offering Special Weapon or Heavy Ammo Syntheses or the Exotic Engrams that can usually be picked up for 23 Motes of Light.

Every upgrade costs an Exotic Shard as well as varying Glimmer costs, and to get the upgrades you’ll have to have the item in question. Trading it in to Xur cleans out all advancements on any given item, so be forewarned before you opt in.
