Apple is making great strides with Apple Pay these days. They’ve maintained a healthy in flow of particularly important retailers to join their contact less payment system, adding more features by the day. ExxonMobil is now the first major fuel retailer to accept mobile payment at the pump, including Apple Pay, throughout the majority of its U.S. network. The Speedpass+ mobile payment app is now available at more than 6,000 Exxon- and Mobil-branded retail stations across the U.S.
Within the app, customers can choose Apple Pay as a default form of payment from within the app. This allows them a secure payment for their fuel needs, negating the need to carry cash and/or credit cards, further removing any security risks and allowing for an easier way of payment. In all, the customer simply pre-approves the payment through Speedpass+ mobile payment app, making the fueling stops an easy-to-do task as anything payment related out there.
“ExxonMobil wants to make filling up your vehicle even more convenient and the Speedpass+ app has been designed to save you time at the pump,” said Matt Bergeron, vice president fuels and lubricants marketing at ExxonMobil, “The Speedpass+ app represents the next generation of payment options at our branded stations.”
The Speedpass+ mobile payment app is available as a free download, and may also be linked to checking accounts or other major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and ExxonMobil cards – giving customers choice in how to pay. Customers who select Apple Pay, which is secure and easy to set up, will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by their credit and debit cards.
In addition, customers can obtain receipts by email, at the pump, or both. With either option, the customer’s purchase history is recorded in the app for easy reference, which is particularly helpful for tracking business expenses.
ExxonMobil plans to expand the app’s availability to more than 8,000 branded locations by mid-year. Customers can identify nearby stores enabled for mobile payment from within the app. For more information about Speedpass+, visit: www.exxon.com/speedpassplus.
