HTC One Max ? Bigger and Possibly Slower than the Galaxy Note 3?

image_3407_8800

Though some expected the phablet variant of the HTC One to show up during IFA 2013 in Berlin, HTC Corp. (TPE:2498) is planning the release this fall. With each passing day, more specifications and photos show up ? especially on the Chinese Weibo network. Rumors suggest that this 5.9-inch smartphone should show up very soon, and while early info noted that the device is going to compete with the likes of Xperia Z Ultra and Note 3, that won?t happen ? at least not spec-wise. Twitter handle @evleaks said that the early rumors of the HTC One Max carrying the Snapdragon 800 inside were shown

Nvidia Announces Tegra Note 7 to Compete with Nexus 7

image_3406_8799

Nvidia today announced that they would be launching a new Tegra 4 based product, the Tegra Note 7. This device appears to slot perfectly into what could have been the next Nexus 7. Everything about the Tegra Note screams that it was destined to be the next Nexus 7 device, but something just didn’t click and Google ended up going with Qualcomm. We reported quite a while ago that this switch would eventually occur, but it seems like Nvidia never gave up and continued towards the development of a $199 tablet. In fact, the Tegra Note is actually cheaper than the new Nexus 7, coming

FCC Photos and Info: Nexus 5 is an LG G2 Variant

image_3391_8784

Nexus 5 is coming ? and for the first time it is revealed to the bone in its visit to the FCC. The device first time appeared in the Android KitKat video, but Google quickly turned video private on YouTube, disabling access. Fortunately, plenty of screenshots were left to compare it with the FCC filing. Mountain View company recently tuned the Nexus 4 pricing down, presumably to get rid of the stock and prepare for the successor. The Federal Communications Commission filing shows that the new device is likely an LG G2 variant, given that the Nexus 4 was a variant of the LG Optimus

First Windows Phone Phablet Appears in a Press Photo

image_3374_8767

Just as the earlier leaks have suggested, the Nokia ?Bandit? seems to carry the name Lumia 1520 in its final form, as Twitter handle @evleaks posted the first press image of how the phablet looks like. Judging by the third column of Live Tiles on the screen, the unit is most definitely running the next version of Windows Phone (GDR3) which, among other things, brings the support for 1080p screens, new SoCs from Qualcomm, etc. Overall design of the unit seems to be following the lines of some earlier Lumia models, and it remains to be seen how that shape actually holds up in what

image_3366_8759

As we had reported earlier, Renesas was having a hard time getting their mobile division to turn a profit and the parent company had decided that since they couldn’t sell the division they would simply just shut it down and hold onto the IP. This division was originally purchased from Nokia by Renesas and then made into Renesas Mobile with a few additions. The company has had a hard time finding suitors for the mobile division and keeping it profitable, however it appears that since we last reported on Renesas, things have changed. We have heard multiple rumors that there is a possibility that Samsung

image_3259_8652

As history appears to repeat itself, it appears as though LG’s Optiumus G2 is going to be launching from on August 7th, in New York City. We received the invitation from them this morning, and while they didn’t explicitly state that it would be the Optimus G2, the sucessor to the Optimus G and Optimus G Pro, the timing and messaging are pretty obvious that is exactly what will be happening. Just don’t mix up the Optimus G2 with the Optimus G2X, which was an older LG phone that featured Tegra 2 that brings LG back to the days when they didn’t know how to

Intel?s Bay Trail Benchmarks Surfaced ? ARM SoCs Left in the Dust

image_3256_8649

It is no secret that Intel wants to succeed in the mobile segment of the market as the transformation to mobile devices continues mercilessly. Unlike many other chipmakers who followed ?the path of ARM?, Intel decided to stick with x86 and their Atom system on chip. Regardless of solid performance and power efficiency, many have considered Intel to just have a ?great potential? or merely be ?at the right track of things? ? as the company failed to attract more manufacturers of the smartphones and tablets. Things could change significantly with Bay Trail, if we are to believe benchmark results. The next generation of mobile

Some information from earlier this year said that the Xperia Z flagship will ?soon? receive a refresh with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC paired with a fantastic imaging sensor, in order to compete with both Android flagship smartphones and cameraphones at the same time. While Samsung went on to satisfy needs of those who like the idea of having an optical zoom (Galaxy S4 Zoom) in their smartphones (while keeping the relatively small imaging sensor), Nokia is preparing to launch a Windows Phone unit with oversampling from an enormous 1/1.2? Google Buys Israeli Navigation Company Waze, But Why?

image_3219_8612

The Israeli company Waze has been in the spotlight quite often in the past few years with their application’s ability to make maps easier and more accurate. Waze’s most powerful feature, which I’ve witnessed firsthand is the ability for users to not only use the maps and navigate using them, but to interact with the maps and leave feedback. This includes the ability to mention where speed cameras and police are located. Not only that, but you can see where other Waze users are on the road and you can see what they’re saying. The real power of Waze right now, however, is the fact

Tim Cook: Apple Far From Trouble ? Opening Up

AllThingsD D11 conference hosted a number of leading figures of the industry once again. One of them was Apple?s Tim Cook, who kicked off the event. While there were no major revelations, Cook did hint at what was coming in the near future of the company. Last year?s conference was very different in the approach to Tim Cook, as he was mostly bombarded with questions related to the position, in a post-Jobs era for the company. Situation now has an entirely different character to it ? and questions to Apple?s CEO followed that accordingly. Gray skies over the Cupertino are ubiquitous according to a number
