The 2017 is shaping up to be the year of VR, with many industry collaborations being sign on in order to prepare the content and hardware platform coming in the Fall 2016 / Spring 2017 and onwards. For example, Chinese hardware manufacturer Colorful Technology Company Limited recently sent an invitation to Computex, citing they’re launching new generation of graphics cards, motherboards, tablets, mini PC’s, SSD’s and many more. What was hidden in the release was something more impactful to the global scene: “Adorning the Colorful booth further are formal signing ceremony that seal the partnership between Chaintech/Colorful and Shunwang Technology for VR cooperation as well as

Battlefield 5 and GeForce GTX 1080 Reveal on the Same Date

Battlefield V Premiere Landing Page

EA today launched a landing page for the World Premiere of next generation of Battlefield. On May 6th, 2016 at 1 PM Pacific, 4PM Eastern and 9PM British Summer Time, Electronic Arts will hold a live stream announcing the Battlefield 5. This will be the 11th title since this franchise launched in 2002, and probably the most expected one. Star Wars: Battlefront was quite a disappointment and not a single Battlefield title managed to beat Call of Duty from the throne of annual-to-bi-annual franchises that storm the bestselling charts. At the same time, Nvidia is hosting its secretive meeting where the selected invitees will be introduced to GP104 and GP106,

Post-Computex Blues – Yet Another Bloodbath on the Horizon

Computex Taipei_1000

Or… The Vendors Never Learn It’s been a full 2 weeks now since the end of Computex, and the associated roaming around Greater China and certain (mostly Chinese speaking too) neighboring realms. This being at the very least fifteenth Computex for me, I didn’t bother much with press conferences and such, but checking the show floor to see what’s really going on, and then do a real check with selected vendors after the event is done with. The Taiwanese, with diminishing focus on high end ‘added value’ PC stuff, moving towards mainstream consumer things with corresponding reduction in differentiation and ability to charge larger margins,

Gigabyte Suite at Computex 2014, Mountains of Motherboards

Gigabyte Gaming Motherboards

As we had already covered most of what Gigabyte already had to announce from their new 9 series motherboards at the beginning of Computex, we were interested to see exactly what Gigabyte had to show us at their suite on the 36th floor of Taipei 101 (somewhere about 1/3 of the way up). After we got to their suite, we were greeted by Gigabyte’s Irene Huang, who graciously showed us around Gigabyte’s suite and introduced us to their full line of motherboards that they had announced earlier in the week. The first thing that caught our attention was Gigabyte’s walls of motherboards, with their new

Computex from a Woman’s Perspective, Part I

Computex Taipei 2014 Intro Page

When I found out that I’m actually going to Computex Taipei 2014, my first thought was – well, nothing. The fact is that through all of my journalist years I’ve heard news bits about an IT conference that is held in Taiwan every year for the last 33 years. Somehow, I couldn’t imagine myself being actually there on that very spot. I’m aware that as for all of you BSN readers, I don’t have to explain what it’s all about. Somehow though, I still like to think that I’m not the only one who’s been IT ignorant so maybe this typically chick-lit text will find

Intel to Show a Dozen Mobile Design Wins at Computex?

Intel Logo

According to some of our sources within Intel, there will be a multitude of Intel mobile design wins being shown at Computex 2014 in Taipei many of which will be running on Android. This includes all of the chips that Intel launched back at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona where we covered Intel’s Merrifield launch. They even showed us one of their reference devices, which were quite prevalent at Computex to get an idea of what could be expected with Merrifield. Even though Mobile World Congress is generally accepted as the place to launch smartphone and tablet design wins, Intel’s product design cycle simply
