Downloading speeds of 100 Mbps and 50 Mbps upstream is more than enough to stream Blu-ray video in highest possible bit-rate, and we’re talking about streaming on a cell phone. So, if 100 Mbps is something that we can expect in a year or two, why should we bother with the deployment of expensive fiber-optics cabling that (currently) achieves only 20/20 or 50/50 Mbps, if you’re lucky?
