Rimac Automobili d.o.o. (Ltd.) is launching a production version of its Concept_One, an electric hypercar developed in Croatia, Europe. What makes Concep_One special is that it served as a technology demonstrator which was so impressive, several car manufacturers contracted Rimac to build them a bespoke version of their own vehicles. At the same time, Christian von Koenigsegg was so impressed with the in-house technology that his Regera is powered by a Koenigsegg-Rimac drivetrain, without a gearbox. Concept_One is a different beast altogether. 1088 hp, and 1600 Nm / 1180 pound ft. (electronically limited) take the vehicle to 300 kph / 186 mph in just a bit over 14
Over the past couple of months, we’re seeing a lot of corporate movements inside Samsung Group. First, Samsung Display announced it plans to completely offload its LCD manufacturing business, starting with a sale of L.5 factory to China’s Truly. Second, Samsung SDI decided to sell its whole chemical business sector and focus solely on improving the chemistry for its car battery business. The size of investment is nothing to be sneezed at. Over the next three years, newly established ‘Samsung SDI Chemical’ will be sold off, while Samsung’s SDI will invest at least $2.51 billion into development of car batteries. This is not all, as all
If you live anywhere in the northern hemisphere, you’re likely already aware of how bitterly cold temperatures can dip to. In the United States or Canada alone, good luck if you’re living in Alaska, North Dakota, or Minnesota, as temperatures can reach well below -1 degrees Fahrenheit. Same story with Iceland, or Scandinavia. However, you’re going to need more than luck if you’re an EV (electric vehicle) owner in a cold climate, as it appears that electric car batteries may well struggle in winter – taking more time and energy to warm up and function efficiently. Sadly, global warming pushed winter patterns from November/December to January-March,
Throughout 2015, German car manufacturers were announcing they’re getting ready to strike back at Tesla. In a rather interesting set of events, Porsche decided to fire the first real bullet at the 2015 IAA Frankfurt car show, revealing their 2018 Porsche Mission E. The concept car, which is fully electric and rather gorgeous, tries to bring a level of sport elegance only known to Porsche into the developing eco-friendly motoring world. This is a four door, four single seats concept powered by electric drivetrain which develops over 600 hp (440 kW) system power, with over 500 km driving range. All-wheel drive and all-wheel steering, zero to 100
Elon Musk, Tesla Motors CEO just revealed improvements for the Model S, one of which is named ‘Ludicrous Mode’. For a measly $10,000 you get a 10 percent boost in acceleration, which shaves of the 0-62mph (0-100kph) acceleration to an insane 2.8 seconds! This is supercar territory – all in a fully environmentally friendly business sedan that you don’t need a pilot’s license to operate. The upgrade was revealed with a loop of the rap song Beast Mode by Ludacris. Pretty fitting, wouldn’t you agree? On a more serious note, this puts this all-electric sedan in some rather inspiring company. Cars that can do the same sprint, below 3.0 seconds include
For the past couple of weeks, Rimac Automobili Facebook page was filled with teasers about a special racing vehicle for a special race. That ‘special race’ is no longer a secret, as Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima and visited Zagreb, Croatia and made an announcement that Monster and Rimac have teamed up to create a 1MW, 1,341hp race vehicle with yet unknown torque. Rimac Automobili is world known for its 1,088hp Concept_One electric car, with the company further expanding their line up with Greyp electric bikes, which is now a stand-alone company – as well as their collaboration with Koenigsegg on their Regera hypercar, a 1500hp hybrid monster.
Goodyear revealed concept tires that show a way how tires could change change the heat into electricity, powering electric and plugin cars.
Hyundai’s much awaited fuel cell car, the internationally known 2015 Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell or the North American Tuscon Fuel Cell. This car is Hyundai’s latest FCEV vehicle that is actually coming to market and will be available around the world fairly shortly as it is a 2015 model year vehicle, meaning we’ll see it on the road later this year. What’s such a big deal about Hyundai’s FCEV is that it is a fuel cell powered electric vehicle that can do hundreds of miles on a single ‘tank’. Instead of being powered by batteries and large battery packs, the ix35 Fuel Cell is basically powered
