Xiaomi Under Fire in Taiwan For Security Issues

Authorities in Taiwan are investigating whether China’s Xiaomi poses a cyber security risk, according to reports. A spokesperson for the Taiwan government has been quoted in the press saying that recent reports of Xiaomi phones sending back user data to Xiaomi servers in China prompted the investigation. The spokesperson said that the Taiwanese government would release the findings from its investigation in three months time. This isn’t the first time Xiaomi, the low-cost high-performance smartphone brand from China, has caught the ire of a government. Pricing Will Determine The Fate Of The iPhone 6 in Asia

After months of rumors and leaks, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are now official. Boasting screen sizes of 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches respectively, the new devices represent a shift in Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) strategy as the manufacturer seeks to position itself as a viable contender in the large screen segment. Xiaomi Mi4

Xiaomi has finally released their latest flagship smartphone and it comes as no surprise that it will be called the Mi4. So, clearly Xiaomi wanted to have a more unique design themselves and to build a quality device. Because of this, they’ve opted to build the Xiaomi Mi4’s body completely out of metal, to give

Computex from a Woman’s Perspective, Part I

The fact is that through all of my journalist years I’ve heard news bits about an IT conference that is held in Taiwan every year for the last 33 years. Somehow, I couldn’t imagine myself being actually there on that very spot. I’m aware that as for all of you BSN readers, I don’t have to explain what it’s all about. Somehow though, I still like to think that I’m not the only one who’s been IT ignorant so maybe this typically chick-lit text will find

Xiaomi Launches 7.9" MiPad Tablet with Nvidia Tegra K1

MiPad Colors

Xiaomi today announced two products, one of which was the company’s first tablet powered by Nvidia’s Tegra K1 SoC. If you look at the Xiaomi MiPad there’s no denying that it looks a lot like something Apple would release, however they are doing it with their own touch and using Android and their own MIUI interface. Xiaomi is already a name that’s synonymous with good design, good build quality, and a bit of being a copycat. Even so, Xiaomi’s phones and other products have all been pretty well received by consumers and reviewers alike. However, it is still incredibly difficult to get ahold of any
