Amazon Book Listing Hints at June 30 Launch for iPhone 5 (UPDATED)

If an iPhone 5 book listing spotted on Amazon is an indication, Apple could launch its iPhone 5 by June 30, 2011, when a publisher slated its book that promises to teach folks how to master their new phone. Entitled iPhone 5 Made Simple, the $20 manual aims to provide "over 1,000 screen visuals and clear-cut instructions guide you through both basic and advanced features of the iPhone 5, from email and calendar tips to navigating the App Store and understanding Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networks", according to author Martin Trautschold, the founder and CEO of Made Simple Learning.

This is interesting, but we’re not holding our breath. Anyone can write an iPhone 5 book and submit it to Amazon, especially with similar hit and miss indications in the past. Would any publisher go that far to fabricate a book release? Sure, PR stunts like common in this industry and this is probably the case of a cheap marketing gimmick.

On the other hand, Phil Schiller did tweet about white iPhone being available this spring, but did not mention iPhone 4 specifically. If Apple’s marketing boss was in fact referring to white iPhone 5, this gives us a possible availability date of June 20 the latest, which is the last day of spring. Anyway, it’s pretty safe to assume that a next-generation iPhone is in the cards and due for release come this summer.

UPDATE [March 23, 2011 9:35 Eastern time]
As I noted over at 9to5Mac, another hint involving a third-party case on the online Apple store alludes at a four-inch display on iPhone 5, but it’s pretty inconclusive.
