Lenovo Challenging Apple With a 23-inch "Tablet"

It doesn’t get any crazier than this. Deciding it cannot possibly compete with the iPad juggernaut in the 9.7-inch space, Lenovo has gone all out to impress watchers with a 23-inch thing they’re calling a "tablet". It should be out this year and will be based on Lenovo’s all-in-one computers. It’s a "home" tablet, Lenovo’s senior marketing specialist William Cai tells TechRadar.

He then launched into the sales pitch:

We think that there is potential for a 23-inch tablet. We’d have to take care of battery life and we are working to get the weight down. It’s obviously not for full mobility use, but it could be moved from room to room in the house and used with a full keyboard, or as a television.Or you could lay it on a table top and use it for family games.

Hold it right there, Mr. Cai, I’ve got a question for you…

How the heck am I supposed to play games on a 23-inch "tablet", huh?

I would need to hang it up on the wall and then what? Stare at it from a few inches away and interact with the game using my fingers?

Please, have someone tell Mr. Cai that bigger isn’t always better. It’s not a tablet, it’s an all-in-one desktop. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, they should have the guts to call it a duck. I guess he didn’t get the memo.

Seriously? Lenovo's 23" Tablet is not a tablet at all. This computer category is called "All in One PC".
