Earlier this week, SteelSeries introduced a new surface for gamers in the way of the DeX Mousepad. The SteelSeries DeX is made of a low-friction polymer, and it features a unique 3D optical pattern designed to improve tracking accuracy. The 3D special textured pattern consists of raised hexagonal ridges that reduce the contact points between the mouse and the pad. A reduction of contact leads to less friction, allowing the mouse to easily glide over the surface.
The SteelSeries DeX offers a fast glide surface for mouse movements, but has a heavy silicone base to keep the pad anchored to the desk. The DeX also had heat-sealed edges to prevent it from fraying over time, as it causes the edge to round off and stay put. The SteelSeries DeX can also be washed if needed. The pad is water resistant so it can be wiped down using water without any negative consequences.
“We designed this for gamers who prefer to have a low friction surface that want and prefer a fast glide; it’s a very different feel from our QcK family of surfaces. In addition to how it feels and glides, the DeX could very well be the last surface they will ever need to buy with its incredible durability.”

The dimensions of the SteelSeries DeX are:
- Width: 320 mm /12.6 in
- Length: 270 mm / 10.8 in
- Height: 2 mm / 0.08 in
- Weight: 212 g / 7.48 oz
The SteelSeries DeX will be available for pre-order this Fall for $39.99 MSRP.
