Nintendo Direct Wii U And 3DS Announcement Wrap-Up

Mario Maker2

Nintendo celebrates 30 years of Mario by announcing a September release date for Mario Maker on Wii U.

Mario Maker Gets A Release Date (Wii U)

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of that iconic red-hatted plumber, Nintendo has announced that Mario Maker will launch this September on the Wii U.

Mario Maker lets users switch between four different Mario Bros. game themes, including the 8-bit pixel art of the NES classic as well as the 3D renders of New Super Mario Bros. U to create your very own definitive levels.

The best part about the game is that you can share your finished creations to gamers across the globe, who can try out your wacky levels for themselves.

The game looks like loads of fun and gives you the tools to make your very own Mario game as you see fit, and really brings that true sense of humorous fun to life.

Yoshi's Wooly World

Yoshi’s Wooly World is a lovingly hand-crafted sidescroller that looks absolutely adorable and endearing.

Yoshi’s Wooly World (Wii U)

Yoshi’s new yarn-crafted adventure celebrates the whimsical nature of Nintendo but also has its own distinct platformer and puzzler elements to boot.

While it looks absolutely adorable, Yoshi’s Wooly World appears to be surprisingly dynamic in terms of puzzle solving, and players will have to create their own platforms and think outside the box to beat challenges.

Yoshi Yarn Amiibos

The new yarn Yoshi Amiibo will be available in three colors–green, blue and pink–and will launch alongside the game this Fall.

The new game will also have special Amiibos made of yarn instead of plastic that interact specifically to the game. Tapping the yarn Amiibo adds in a second Yoshi to the game, adding a kind of double-team style akin to Sonic and Tails in Sonic 2.

You can turn the second Yoshi into yarn balls to attack enemies or cross chasms, and it adds a nice bit of extra fun to the mix as well.

Yoshi’s Wooly World will launch in Fall 2015 on Wii U.

Splatoon

Splatoon, the third-person Wii U paintball shooter, looks like a entertaining mix of competitive shooter and strategy elements.

Splatoon (Wii U)

The new Nintendo Direct shows off two new Splatoon modes: Online Ranked Battle, which is 4-on-4 multiplayer battles with different rules like King of the Hill and more, and the Battle Dojo, which affords 1-on-1 competitive local matches with one player using the Wii U gamepad and the other the TV.

Battle Dojo lets players practice their skills and learn the layout of maps featured in Turf Wars and Online Ranked Battle.

Splatoon Amiibos

Three Splatoon Aiibos will add in exclusive content including new missions and gear to the game.

Also Splatoon will be getting three Inkling Amiibos that launch with the game. Each Amiibo adds in special in-game missions that unlock exclusive gear sets and items.

All three Inkling Amiibos will be available in a single pack when the game releases on May 29th, 2015.
