SoundHound Inc., a developer of AI and conversational intelligence technologies, this week introduced a range of integrations empowered by their Houndify Voice AI platform. Demonstrations of some of those integrations will occur at this week’s CES in Las Vegas.
The integrations run a very wide range of IoT categories, including automotive, connected speakers, robotics, appliances, augmented reality experiences, smart home, and wearables, from companies including Hyundai, HUMAX, Mayfield Robotics, AvatarMind Robots, PhotoSpring and Onkyo.
“Conversational voice interfaces represent the next shift in how we interact with the devices around us and the user behavior of speaking to things will quickly become an integral part of our daily lives,” said Keyvan Mohajer, cofounder and CEO of SoundHound Inc.
Among the more interesting integrations featuring Houndify are the BUNN Sure Immersion Coffee Machine and Modiface Makeup Mirror.
In the case of the coffee machine, a Houndify-powered virtual assistant can be summoned with the phrase “OK, Barista.”
The company indicates that the assistant can answer a range of inquiries while brewing coffee, such as weather and sports updates. It is not clear, however, whether the BUNN Sure Immersion can use AI to prepare a custom morning brew.
Also of note is Houndify’s integration with the augmented-reality Modiface Makeup Mirror. Modiface’s technology, which allows its users to preview the look of makeup application, is currently being utilized by companies including MAC Cosmetics and Walmart.
The company cited example use cases, such as asking the mirror to “show me green eyeshadow,” or “add red lipstick and pink blush.”
