Microsoft WARP proves that Intel’s current graphics suck
Thanks to Thomas from DVhardware.net, I learned that Microsoft released a document explaining the way how WARP10 works. WARP stands for Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform, or “The Return of the Software Rasterizer”. According to the document, this software rasterizer will come bundled with DirectX 11 and Windows 7. What make the matters important are performance scores. Microsoft states that the company tested Crysis in DX10 mode at 800×600, and saw better performance with WARP than graphics subsystem. I’ve just received word from Eran Badit of NGOHQ.Com fame, who encountered an interesting experience with Microsoft keyboards. Acorrding to Eran, keyboards to avoid are following: – Wireless Keyboard 6000 – Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 – Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 It seems that the keyboards are suffering from some sort of keystroke lock, which is pretty bad if you are a gamer or multi-tasker (I can imagine more than one scenario in Photoshop where I am pressing more than 3 keys at the same time). In a bid to win more customers, Best Buy introduced Blue label series of products. Starting with two notebooks, BB is introducing products that were designed based upon customer feedback. BB received feedback from their sales spots and decided to do something about it. It seems that most customers demanded discrete graphics card, 4GB of memory, baclkit keyboard improved battery life and a 64-bit operating system. Said – done. New “nForce for AMD” chipsets take shape under GeForce name

I’ve been following NPD Sales charts for ages now, and it was always interesting to see how long can a title hold on them. Blizzard and EA/Maxis are long standing legends – in the past eight years, there haven’t been a weekly or monthly sales chart where at least one title from these companies didn’t occupy spot or two. NPD Group decided to combine their weekly charts into monthly ones, probably for easier tracking – and making annual reports will be much more easier.
