Zuckerberg Introduced new $199 Oculus Go

Facebooks very own CEO, Mark Zuckerberg introduced a new $199 headset, Oculus Go, and permanently cut the price for the flagship Rift to $399 as he talked up VR’s potential. “At every step along the way, the future is built by people who believe it can be better” he said. In a blog post, the company said the new price for its immersive headset will be available for a “limited time” as part of a summer sale. In January, Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey said that even at the initial $599 price tag, the Rift headset didn’t offer Oculus a profit. This isn’t the first price drop

CCP Invents Cross-Reality, Launches EVE: Valkyrie Warzone

Since its launch, EVE: Valkyrie is one of most immersive VR experiences, a fast paced space combat sim which might serve as a professional training tool for your neck muscles. Still, the fact that this game was VR only was limiting its reach, and given the multiplayer nature of it, CCP expanded the game from Oculus to Vive, added PlayStation VR and now ultimately, is adding a two-dimensional mode, i.e. computer display (PC) or a TV (PS4). “If you can play first-person shooters, you can pilot one of EVE: Valkyrie – Warzone’s amazing ships. Not having access to VR hardware will no longer hold gamers

Bethesda’s VR World: DOOM VFR, Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim PSVR

Bethesda is one of rare AAA-publishers that announced its full support for the VR technology, and invested heavily in creating VR-versions of its popular franchises. At the 2017 edition of E3 conference, Bethesda announced several titles which are coming for Steam VR / HTC Vive (visible from the moment the VR trailer starts). Given the legal situation between Bethesda and Oculus, we were not surprised to see icy relations and no mention of supporting the Oculus Rift VR headset. While the game development teams are working behind the scenes on new IP which wasn’t ready to be shown, the B-teams are working on re-working the

During the 2017 edition of CES in Las Vegas, we’re starting to see an appearance of new Virtual Reality applications, as businesses see VR as a new medium. While the push for VR started in retail model, we’re now seeing that business-to-consumer model is the path forward. Many technologies are vying to be the next big thing, and Virtual Reality is one of the new mediums that can deliver that message. Hands On: YI M1 Mirrorless Digital 4K Camera

After some time looking at digital cameras for the new VR World office, we came across YI M1 Mirrorless ILC and decided to try it out. YI is a mainland China-based company that has already made its mark in the action camera market. After taking a closer look at M1 camera we think they might have ambitions beyond the action camera market. The YI M1 is built around a Sony-designed 20MP “Four Thirds” CMOS sensor that boasts RAW capability in the form of DNG output files and the ability to shoot 4K/30P video. As with its action cameras, YI publicly lists where its key components come from

Microsoft Tick-Tock: Xbox One S and Project Scorpio

At it’s pre-E3 2016 conference, Microsoft announced the long awaited shift of its console model. In a nutshell, Xbox is becoming an regularly-refreshed product just like the Surface line of tablets and convertible PCs. Future Xbox refreshes will occur in an annual cycle, moving to a strategy that Intel used to call “Tick-Tock”. Just like Intel, Microsoft plans to release a high-end version of the console first, followed by a slimmed down version. Microsoft did not disclose the exact refresh cycle strategy, but we would not be surprised if the company decides to use E3 as the place where their annual or bi-annual refreshes will be announced. The exact

Sony CEO Confirms High-End PlayStation Console for VR

Ever since we revealed the specifications of new PlayStation Neo console, rumors were about when SONY will pull the trigger and introduce the console. Our sources told us that the time of introduction is Tokyo Game Show – scheduled for September 15-17, 2016. As such, we’re afraid that the next week’s E3 will pass with perhaps just a teaser for the new console – or will be the biggest (silent) elephant in the room. In an interview with Financial Times, Andrew House, President and Global Chief Executive Offices at Sony Interactive Entertainment said that the high-end PlayStation 4 “Is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,

AMD Confirms Sony PlayStation Neo Based on 14nm CPU and Polaris?

During AMD’s 2016 Investor Day, the company disclosed its growth strategy. Many of the focal points are in motion already, or even public. For example, AMD sealed the deal with THATIC, Chinese government owned investment fund – which will see their x86 processors enter Chinese enterprise and government sectors in a big way. Second part of the strategy was to finally become a fabless semiconductor, with all the risks and rewards involved with that move. The company spun off its packaging facility, making a total cash intake in excess of $664 million – plus all the unannounced grants that the company is bidding for. Still, perhaps one of the biggest future announcement

Sony PlayStation NEO Console for VR Revealed?

According to multiple sources we managed to talk to during the last couple of industry conferences, and the story that just break today, Sony is rushing ahead towards introduction of “Playstation 4.5”, codenamed NEO. The company decided to update the console rather than performing a ‘simple’ die shrink, a tactic both Microsoft and Sony utilized over the lifetime of their Playstation 2 and 3, Xbox and 360 consoles. The original plan for NEO was to introduce a 14nm die-shrink of 8-core Jaguar processor and an update of a GCN-based graphics processor. However, a shift from 28nm to 14nm is significantly more complex due to the fact that 28nm process used
