Can Vuze Become the Next GoPro?

Just two years ago, betting on VR / AR was considered visionary, with scattered remnants of an ill-fated attempt to immerse us in a three dimensional world with quite frankly, a sub-par experience. 3D glasses would work if every household bought a 70-85″ TV, but the reality saw 32″ TVs being sold with 3D glasses. Virtual Reality transplants you from one world to another and the real money lies in finding the next YouTube, a website that redefined Internet as we know today. Numerous companies rode the coattails of small Silicon Valley startup that got swallowed up by Google. Red Bull and GoPro both based their marketing / business model around video content on YouTube,

Action Packed Ski Video Shot Entirely by an Apple iPhone

A 25-year-old Nicolas Vuignier shared an action packed ski video, shot entirely on an Apple iPhone. While the sole “shot by iPhone” idea is not really that new, the quality and making of this video really redefines what is possible. While some will argue this was made by something a bit more professional (high-quality RED anyone?) than a run-off-the-mill production smartphone like this, it seems the video was really shot by a device like, just using the custom lenses. Nicolas Vuignier has shared an incredible video on YouTube showcasing himself skiing down a mountain in Sweden. And we can only be amazed by how well it

GoPro Announces Q4 and Calendar Year 2015 Preliminary Results

It seems that the 2015 results are not that good for GoPro overall. The company released their Q4 and 2015 financial results, giving us an in-depth perspective into their finances. The company expects revenue to be approximately $435 million for the fourth quarter of 2015 and $1.6 billion for the calendar year. Fourth quarter revenue reflects lower than anticipated sales of its capture devices due to slower than expected sell through at retailers, particularly in the first half of the quarter. Fourth quarter revenue includes a $21 million reduction for price protection related charges resulting from the HERO4 Session repricing in December. Non-GAAP gross margin

GoPro's IPO Opens Up 30% on First Day of Trading

GoPro Cam

Remember when we were telling you that GoPro would be going public sometime this summer? Well, today was that day and their IPO did pretty damn well for its first day. GoPro is listed on the NASDAQ as GPRO and originally opened at the IPO price of $24 and currently sits at $31.34 which is an increase of over $7 per share and over 30%. This is also one of the most recent hardware IPOs in recent history and clearly shows the market’s fatigue with software company IPOs and the desire to invest in tangible hardware companies. At the opening of trading today and once

GoPro Files a $100 Million IPO, Solidly Profitable

GoPro Cam

As we had earlier reported on rumors of a GoPro Hero 4(K), GoPro was expected to be filing for an IPO prior to the release of their GoPro Hero 4(K). This followed a rumor that they had secretly filed for an IPO only days after hiring themselves a new CFO. So, it comes as little surprise that they officially filed for an IPO with the SEC today to the tune of $100 million. Thanks to this filing we now know how well GoPro has been doing as a company over the course of the past few years. In 2011, GoPro had reported a profit of
