Dreamscape Immersive launches multisensory VR “Alien Zoo”

Location-based startup Dreamscape Immersive debuted its multisensory VR experience “Alien Zoo” on Feb. 7. The experience is open to the public at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles through March 2. Up to six people can visit Dreamscape Immersive’s intergalactic exhibit during one 40 minute time slot. Each person has a full-body avatar in the “Alien Zoo” environment. To make this possible, Dreamscape Immersive partnered with Artanim, a Swiss research institute developing motion capture technology, which created a body-mapping software that

T-Mobile Logo

Today T-Mobile announced the closure of their deal to acquire 700 MHz A-Block spectrum from Verizon, which was originally announced back in January. This A-Block of spectrum was purchased from Verizon to the tune of $2.4 billion and gives T-Mobile some very high-quality spectrum in areas where it is most needed. The deal also supposedly gives T-Mobile some AWS spectrum as well, to help them shore up any holes they might have in their existing AWS spectrum holdings. Ultimately, though, T-Mobile wants this A-Block spectrum so that they can enable much higher speeds and better overall bandwidth to their customers. They will likely accomplish this

Microsoft abandons Vista name, welcome Windows 7

After Windows 2002 being named XP and Windows 6 becoming Vista, I thought Microsoft was thoroughly lost in the world of consumer naming. But luckily, the company decided to do a U-turn on naming convention and Windows 7 will become known as – “Windows 7”. In a newsletter send to members of partnering community, Microsoft stated that on PDC 2008 conference in Los Angeles, the company will give out pre-beta versions of their new operating system, “Windows 7”. This name was confirmed by Mike Nash, VP for Windows Product Management. You can read more on TG Daily.
